Just a few odds and ends going on in the Old Bro Network this month ..... first of all, OBN would like to announce the addition of ONE new Old Bro, Jason Garcia (EpSig 1199).  Jason becomes the 299th Old Bro on our roster, so we are now on the verge of becoming a tribe of 300.

Who will Old Bro #300 be ??  I urge all of you to scour your address books and send in contact info on any Old Bro's who are currently NOT on the roster, you WILL be recognized as a "Stud of the Week" for sending in contact info.

Also, Jim Botko (EpSig 867) sent in revised contact info, his updated Vcard will also be emailed out to everyone, please update your records accordingly.

Following up on this year's UCLA Alumni Day festivities, Stan Benson (EpSig 305) sent in this photo of Old Bro's enjoying the festivities on campus ....

Clockwise from left:  Ian McRae (current High Alpha), Stan Benson (EpSig 305), Jeanette Paige (Stan's sister), Josephine Bruin (party crasher!!), Jim Bonar (EpSig 405), Gordon Cudney (EpSig 402), Mike Rainer (EpSig 427), Bob Schulenberg, Linda Sinks (Earl's wife), Earl Sinks (EpSig 384)

If anyone out there has any news, photos, upcoming activities, etc. that you would like to share amongst the tribe, send it in and I'll get it posted here for everyone to enjoy.  This is YOUR site to share things on, I'm just the inmate running the asylum .....

EpSig #1 !! New bro's rock !!

Received the following update on how well the "New Bro's" of the undergraduate chapter house are doing on campus these days, they are obviously building their own legacy at EpSig, just as the hundreds of us who came before them did in our time at the house .....

Thanks to Old Bro's Trevor Kirschner (EpSig 1131) and Robert Frackelton (EpSig 1103) for sharing the following news .....

Following isn’t public knowledge quite yet for our Lambda Chi students at Epsilon-Sigma Zeta at UCLA (since they have not officially picked-up their grades report from UCLA’s Greek Life office), so please keep this confidential for now…

Our outstanding Greek Advisor at UCLA, Mande Adams, shared this great news with me and so I am forwarding it to Chapter Services at Lambda Chi headquarters as well as our local alums.  Please keep this quiet for now, but read this and smile!.....

Epsilon-Sigma Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha at UCLA (which was re-colonized just a few years ago) can proudly state that out of the entire UCLA fraternity system, they are:

#1 in grades
#1 in recruitment class numbers and retention
#1 in Standards for Excellence
#1 in Greek Week

Fantastic!  I learned this from Mande as we communicated regarding the Brother A. Barry Cappello Scholarship program, so I had to share.  I hope you all agree this is a Cross & Crescent worthy news item!

I think we owe a big thanks to Mande Adams, Bill Farkas, Barry Cappello, Berky Nelson, Derek Abrams, Aiden Mette, our entire Corp Board, Trevor Kirschner, Tom Turley, Damon Anastasia, our Alumni Scholarship Committee, and the terrific students who not only brought back Lambda Chi to UCLA but brought it back to a whole new level of excellence!  Truly fantastic that Ep-Sig is doing so well.

Best in ZAX,
Robert Frackelton

The studliness continues at 10918 Strathmore Drive .....

The Remainers LIVE at the Troubadour 8/4/12

Old Bro Jason Lautenschleger (EpSig 1320), bass player for local LA band The Remainers, sent in the following about their continuing adventures in the LA music scene, as well as news of an opportunity to see them LIVE on 8/4/12 at the world famous Troubadour in Hollywood .....

Just keeping everyone abreast on the latest Remainers activity. For the Old Bros in the LA area, this could be a fun way for some guys to get together:

We're starting to record new songs this week and we want to test out how they fit in your earholes.  Oh, and if you don't make this show, you will be sad.

BECAUSE:

1) It's on a Saturday night,  August 4th, 2012.  (There go half your excuses)

2) It's not even late.  We start playing at 9:30pm and most of you can be home in time for the SNL (spoiler alert!) rerun.

3) It's at The Troubadour!!  Quite possibly my favorite venue in LA.  (Factoid: Elton John's first live US performance was there)

4) Mostly new songs! And if the exclamation point didn't give it away, we're really excited about them.  Of course we'll play some familiar ones too.

Tickets are $12 up front and $15 at the door.  To cut down on the Ticket Agent surcharges, we've worked it out to sell our own tickets via PayPal and we'll hold them for you at the box office.  Fiddy cents is much better than 8 dollars in fees.  The only downside to this is that we are limited to 100 presale this way.  Just click below on the number of tickets you want (of course you can get more than 4 in multiple transactions) and bring your receipt to the box office!

2 Tickets
3 Tickets
4 Tickets

If, for any reason those don't work, let me know and we'll work it out.

OK, Old Bros, plug this info into that already crowded calendar app of yours and make it down to the Troubadour to support Jason and the band ......
