Old Bro Spotlight on .....

Received this e-mail from Old Bro Jason Lautenschlager (EpSig 1320)  and want to make sure that ALL of you Old Bro's out there are aware of what Jason and his band are doing.  Check out the links below to listen to the band and especially to watch a VERY creative music video that Jason and his wife created.  And remember ..... ALWAYS support your Old Bros !!

The Remainers -- Jason L. playing bass on the right

January 30, 2012

Brothers of Lambda Chi,

My name is Jason Lautenschleger and I play bass in a band called The Remainers.  We are a 4-piece rock band (sounding at times like The Killers meets Oasis) playing around Los Angeles. I would like to introduce you to the band and hopefully encourage you to spread the word.  You can hear our 6 song EP at the link below and find it on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

Recently, we were selected as a featured act to perform at The Staples Center during intermissions at the LA Kings game on January 19th.

We have been featured by 106.7 KROQ on their Locals Only Show and will be playing tonight at The Viper Room at 8:45p, (we'll be done by 9:30) should you get a wild hair up your ass and want to come out.  The show is a 98.7 Showcase, so that should be fun.

Also recently, my wife and I shot a time-consuming stop motion music video for our song "House."  We spent every weekend for 10 weeks capturing these 2500 shots, but it was definitely a labor of love.  Please take a couple of minutes to check it out.  It features GI Joes escaping the toy room with other iconic childhood toys coming to life:

Again, thank you for your patience and time in reading this and checking out the band.

Old Bro News & Notes - 1/29/12

Kind of quiet in the Old Bro Network this month ..... I'm assuming most of you old Bruins must be hibernating for the winter, like this guy on the right ----->>>>

Only ONE new Old Bro to add to the roster this update, and we have a new leader in the clubhouse for "Highest Zeta#", please welcome Phil Tadlock (EpSig 1364).  Phil brings the total roster count for the Old Bro Network up to 281.  Also, we have updated e-mail addresses on THREE Old Bros (Chuck Gelbach, Bob Marshall, and Hank Hickey).  Revised E-cards have been sent out, please update your records accordingly.

Definitely NOT hibernating for the winter are new head football coach Jim Mora and his staff, who are busily recruiting some new studs for the Bruin football team.  Last time I checked, our recruiting class this year is ranked in a tie for 10th best in the country (per, so Coach Mora is already making an impact.  Let's see what happens on National Signing Day, 2/1/12 ..... GO BRUINS !!!

And finally, we have the first entry for our "Still Crazy After All These Years" contest ..... that's Old Bro Leaping Lenny Poirier (EpSig 730) flying through the air with the greatest of ease (pretty nice form, as well) as he bungy jumps off a bridge in New Zealand last week.

Haven't heard all the details yet, but apparently this jump was a willing choice, and not the result of having to pay off a bet.

That's the Kawarau River that Leaping Lenny's swan dive is headed towards, not far from Queenstown, New Zealand, one of the prettiest places on the planet (and yes, he made it back alive and in one piece).

If any of you other Old Bros out there have a photo of yourself that you think might actually TOP this crazy stunt, send it in and I'll post it as well.

As always, if anyone has any contact info on any Old Bro who is currently NOT on the roster, send it in and I'll get them hooked up.  Likewise, if your contact info is somehow incorrect or if it changes, drop me a note and I'll fix that as well.

Two VERY different looks at the house .....

Over the holidays two of you Old Bro's sent in photos of the front of our beloved chapter house, taken at VERY different times in its illustrious history.

The first comes from Old Bro Stan Benson (EpSig 305), and gives you an idea of what 10918 Strathmore looked like in the 50's and 60's .....

The second photo comes from Old Bro Sean O'Brien (EpSig 898), who submitted one of the photos from the infamous Southern Campus photo shoot of 1982 (admittedly, you can only see the front entrance of the house, after it had been remodeled).  But the bro's, as usual, are in fine form for their annual yearbook photo.

Special thanks to both Stan and Sean for sending in these photos, they both earn the coveted title of "Stud of the Week" for their efforts .....

Both of these photos have been added to the "Old Bro Network 2012" photo album which is available on the Photo Gallery page of this website.

If anyone else has any old photos that you would like to share with the group, send them to me and I'll make sure to get them posted for all to enjoy.

And if you haven't already sent Old Bro Pete Phelps a "donation" in order to keep any of his old photos OUT of circulation, by all means take the time to do so, Pete usually accepts any form of graft and/or corruption that you may be into.
